History of Development

The Forest Park of the old course of the Yellow River is a relic of the ancient Yellow River more than 2000 years ago. In 602 BC, the Yellow River burst at Shanghu Pass in Henan Province. The torrential river flows through the territory of Xiajin with rolling sediment. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it was the key point of the parliamentary alliance of Zhao and Qi, and Xiajin's name is also due to this. In 11 AD, the Yellow River diverted its course to leave this long and narrow barren sandy beach, planting fruit trees for the local people to prevent wind and fix sand. In 1674, Zhu Guoxiang, who was demoted in the Qing Dynasty, took office in Xia Jinzhi County. He told the people that "many kinds of fruit trees can be saved from disasters and used abundantly." After several hundred years of sand closure and afforestation, it was a vast forest and sea of fruit trees in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. The park is 18 kilometers long from north to south, 7 kilometers wide from east to west, covering 120,000 mu. It has abundant plant resources, including 55 families, 117 genera and 210 species. Mulberry, apricot, pear, persimmon, jujube, hawthorn, walnut and other 20,000 ancient trees stand on the continuous primitive dunes for hundreds of years. They are the largest and oldest artificial gardens in China, and have the reputation of "North deciduous fruit museum".
