China lantern Museum

Located at No.6, Gongyuan Road, Zigong City, Sichuan Province, China lantern museum is a special institution for "collection, protection, research and display" of Chinese lanterns approved by the State Administration of cultural relics (92). It is the only professional museum about lantern culture in China and even in the world. It is also the construction of "Nanguo lamp city" in Zigong City The core of the city is an important symbol of the image of "southern light city".   

Historical evolution

In 1988, judges from all over the country selected the lantern Museum scheme, and in the same year, the lantern museum was built in the original Zijing District Sports Committee.

The architectural design of the Chinese lantern Museum adopts the national bidding design. The evaluation is conducted by the late architect Dai Nianci, senior consultant of the former Ministry of architecture. It is built according to the design scheme of the Architectural Department of Southeast University. The whole building has a strong national style and the characteristics of the Museum of lamp culture, which is praised as a model work by architectural experts. It has been awarded the "Tianfu Cup" architectural Gold Award in Sichuan Province and the highest Architectural Design Award "Luban Gold Award" in China.   

Function value

The establishment of the Chinese lantern museum plays an important role in inheriting and carrying forward the national culture, carrying out patriotism education and national tradition excellent cultural education for the people, protecting and studying the cultural heritage of the motherland, further exploring the connotation of folklore, and enriching Zigong's historical and cultural city. The lantern Museum of China has successively carried out lantern displays in 24 large and medium-sized cities, fully reflecting the cornerstone role of the museum as one of the "three wonders" of the historical city.

China lantern museum is a group member of the Chinese Museum Society, one of the top 50 tourism units in Bashu, a foreign tourist attraction in Zigong, a key tourism protection enterprise in Zigong, and a national "AAA" scenic spot.

The Chinese lantern Museum has a group of high-quality management personnel. There are six full-time and part-time commentators in four languages. There are more than 10 members of the Chinese Museum Society and 12 members of the national folk (ethnic) Museum Professional Committee.

In 1992, with the approval of the State Administration of cultural relics, China lantern Museum, the only specialized museum on lamp culture in China, was established. As a special institution for the collection, protection, research and display of Chinese lantern, it has the reputation of "the first lamp in the world and the first museum in the world". The establishment of the Chinese lantern Museum has ended the history of thousands of years of lamp culture in China without special collection and research institutions.

The Chinese lantern Museum covers an area of 2200 square meters, with a total construction area of 6375 square meters. The building takes the lamp as the theme and looks like a large group of palace lantern buildings. At night, the outline lights of the museum rise and fall one after another. The high light floodlights illuminate the white wall from the same angle. The color lights in the museum leak out and reflect each other. The galaxy falls into the eyes.

Square in front of the Museum

The square in front of the museum is open. On the left and middle are the name of the museum inscribed by Comrade Zhu Muzhi, former leader of the CPC foreign publicity group and director of the Information Office of the State Council, and the building inscription of Mr. Liu Qian, a famous calligrapher and poet from Zigong. Next to the inscription, the small lantern of Dieshui fountain is surging with hemispherical fountain and dandelion fountain, which is full of brilliance. Eight exhibition halls in the Museum

There are 8 exhibition halls in the museum. It is divided into four parts: preface hall, Chinese lantern history hall, Chinese and foreign lantern customs hall and Zigong Lantern boutique hall, with dozens of units for exhibition. From pottery used for lighting in ancient times to large-scale lanterns made by modern technology, from traditional techniques of paper, silk, silk, silk and satin, modern lanterns made of glass medicine bottles, porcelain, cocoons and other materials, from various lanterns of Zigong Lantern Festival to those of dozens of cities such as Suzhou and Hangzhou, Guangdong, Beijing and Nanjing, as well as Japan, Singapore and South Korea More than ten countries, such as China, the United States, France and so on, can be described as the big world of lights and the great garden of lights.

The exquisite lanterns in Zigong are displayed in four exhibition halls, displaying 13 groups of well-known and award-winning lanterns in Zigong since the new era. The prelude hall is composed of the colorful fountain "lotus pond moon night", the lamp wall "Chinese lantern rhyme", the light relief mural "the picture of happy lantern in the prosperous Tang Dynasty" and two groups of wooden relief sketches "the song of spring" and "the world is long". The lantern wall "Chinese lantern rhyme" adopts mural, relief and modern lamp making technology. The above bronze relief is a famous decorative and ornamental lighting fixture with historical value. From these lamps, we can have a glimpse of the development of science and technology, culture and art at that time. The inlaid abstract and deformed dragon symbolizes the eternal prosperity of Chinese lantern rhyme.

In ancient China, there was a saying that the Lantern Festival was held in the heyday of China. According to textual research, as early as the early years of the Western Han Dynasty, the Lantern Festival can be seen in various written records. In the Tang Dynasty, it reached its peak. This shows that the holding of Lantern Festival is related to the political situation of the country and the people's peace and good weather. The mural painting of huandeng in prosperous Tang Dynasty, which is made of stainless steel and copper, is 30 meters long and 3 meters wide. It shows the scene of the Lantern Festival in the heyday of Tang Dynasty. The whole mural creates a wonderful artistic conception that no lamp is better than there is a lamp, leaving the world wide. Injustice arouses our nostalgic thoughts and brings us into the endless imagination of the Lantern Festival in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.

Hall of history

The exhibition of China's Lantern history hall is divided into stages according to the development history of human society. Nearly 100 precious cultural relics and documents are displayed. The discovery and use of fire, the appearance of lamps and lanterns, the evolution and cultural accumulation of lantern festivals, and the customs and culture of lantern festivals are described. It is the core of exhibition in the museum. Here, the audience can enjoy Changxin palace lantern, Yanzu lamp, turtle crane lamp, rhinoceros lamp and other precious cultural relics. In the hall, the light atmosphere and the mood of the lamp hold the audience deeply.

Chinese and foreign lantern style hall

Chinese and foreign color lantern style hall, with the center of the hall to the surrounding radial layout. This display method can be called ingenious.

"Folk custom is a kind of culture that marks the existence of human beings.". The lantern culture, which is included in the folk culture, has become an excellent flower of the national traditional culture with its rich connotation and unique formation for thousands of years. The development of lantern culture also shows the Chinese people's endless reproduction and the nature of pursuing and creating beauty. Different mountains and rivers and different folk customs make lantern art present a landscape of flowers and trees. People from all over the country have created various kinds of lamps and lanterns with their own spiritual and skillful hands. Therefore, the Chinese lamp culture presents a school of extraordinary splendor, the situation of myriad appearances.

The unique charm of Chinese lamp culture also attracts people from all over the world. Since the first Zigong international dinosaur lantern fair in 1987, Japan and the United States sent lamps to the exhibition for the first time. In 1991, the third Zigong international dinosaur lantern fair was successfully held. More than ten countries and regions including the United States, Italy, Britain, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong participated in the exhibition. This shows that Chinese lantern culture has gone to the world. These colorful lanterns presented abroad also reflect people's understanding, love and interpretation of Chinese lantern culture. Thus, it is once again demonstrated that the more national things are, the more cosmopolitan they are.

The Chinese and foreign color lantern custom hall includes domestic lamp areas, customs and lanterns, and overseas lamp areas. It not only has the lantern collection of cities and regions with a long history of China's lamp culture, but also has the colored lights of Southeast Asia and other countries. For example, the Phoenix boat lamp and mother child lamp in Suzhou, the ink screen lamp in Tongxiang of Zhejiang Province, the Pearl lamp in Wenzhou, the fiber-optic flower lamp in Nanjing, the Qilin flower lantern in Foshan, the lampboard dragon in Tongliang, the Beijing style craft lamp in Yangxin Hall of the Forbidden City, the "lepota" lantern in Japan, the lion head fish tail lamp in Singapore, the goddess of liberty lamp in the United States, and the Eiffel Tower lamp in France. In the same hall, ice lanterns in Harbin, Jiuqu dragon lanterns in the Central Plains of the Yellow River, Fanghe lanterns circulating in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan, ceiling lanterns in Wuxiang, Shanxi, and Lantern Festival in Tibet are also displayed and narrated, which indicates the profound connotation and inseparable relationship between lanterns and folk customs. The whole exhibition hall is magnificent, elegant and colorful.
