Beijing Architectural University is a pilot University jointly constructed by Beijing and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Construction, the "Education and Training Plan for Excellent Engineers" of the Ministry of Education, and an advanced university for Party building and ideological and political work in Beijing. The school originated from the Beijing Normal Primary Industrial School established by the Qing government in 1907, and was renamed Beiping Municipal Higher Vocational School in 1933. In 1936, it added Civil Engineering Subject. After that, it went through Beijing Municipal Industrial School, Beijing Architectural College, Beijing Civil Engineering School, Beijing Architectural Engineering School and Beijing Architectural Engineering School. In May 2016, the School's "Future City Design High-end Innovation Center" was approved as "Beijing University High-end Innovation Center". In 2017, it was approved to recommend excellent undergraduate graduates to study postgraduate qualification free of examination. The school has two campuses, Xicheng and Daxing. Xicheng Campus covers an area of 123,000 square meters, Daxing Campus covers an area of 51,000 square meters, and the total area of school buildings is 488,000 square meters. The school's discipline and specialty have distinct characteristics and a complete talent training system. There are 10 colleges and one basic teaching unit in the school.
