Beijing Jiaotong University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, the Beijing Municipal People's Government and China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. As one of the three sources of Jiaotong University, Beijing Jiaotong University can be traced back to 1896. Its predecessor was the Beijing Railway Management Seminar Institute founded by the Qing Government. In 1917, it was reorganized into Beijing Railway Management School and Beijing Post and Telecommunications School.
